Robert J. Artus
Chief Executive Officer
Rob Artus is acknowledged as one of the leading professional investigators in the Northeast. He founded Artus Group, now Connecticut's largest private investigations firm, in 2004 and this year celebrates his 22nd year as a private investigator. Rob has managed major investigations worldwide and has personally investigated thousands of corporate fraud investigations, due diligence cases, background checks, asset searches and family investigations. He is a specialist in due diligence investigations and has testified in court on numerous occasions. Educated in London, England, Rob has developed an extensive portfolio of worldwide resources and is an active member of the Council of International Investigators and the international intelligence network, Intellenet. Rob is Chairman and co-founder of the Connecticut Private Investigators Association; is a former board member of the Connecticut Association of Licensed Private Investigators; and has been actively affiliated with the Life Solutions Center of Darien since 2010. He is the author of www.ConnecticutPIblog.com and has been quoted as an investigative expert in the Connecticut Law Tribune and numerous Connecticut newspapers, publications and periodicals.
Gerald J. Hanahan
Vice President, Investigations
During an extensive and decorated career in law enforcement, Gerry Hanahan was a homicide detective and deep undercover agent. He investigated cold cases and major organized crime, racketeering, embezzlement, fraud and white collar crime cases. He served on several grand juries and was a member of FBI and State Task Forces investigating drug rings in Connecticut. Gerry subsequently served as Supervisory Inspector of several fraud divisions at the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice, Office of the Chief State's Attorney's Office. Since joining the private sector, Gerry has managed and conducted private investigations with a specialty in white collar crime, undercover operations and background investigations, and is a recognized expert in surveillance operations.
Director, Business Intelligence & Investigations
Brett Zanardi has served as Director, Business Intelligence & Investigations since January 2019 following promotions to Senior Staff Investigator in 2013 and Director of Field Investigations in 2017. Brett joined Artus Group in 2010 and has personally investigated hundreds of assignments. He is an expert in field surveillance, divorce and child custody matters, witness interviews, field inquiries, litigation support and public record research. Brett is involved in the community as a basketball coach at the High School, Middle School and Travel levels, and is an active member of Lion’s Club International. Brett enjoys playing golf, watching sports and spending time with his many nieces, nephews and goddaughter. Brett earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management & Fitness Studies from Endicott College in May 2009.
Michael A. Priore
Michael Priore enjoyed a distinguished 28-year career as a Criminal Investigator and Special Agent for the U.S. Government. He began his career with the U.S. Treasury Department, serving in the U.S. Anti-Terrorism Program before becoming a Special Agent in the U.S. Customs Service where he was assigned to international smuggling, fraud and intellectual property related technical investigations. Michael subsequently transferred to the U.S. Justice Department, Drug Enforcement Administration where he served as the inter-agency adviser to the FBI's Chief Criminal Division on matters concerning international drug smuggling, money laundering and related issues and was recognized by the INTERPOL Executive Committee for his leadership in inter-agency programs. Michael is a U.S. Army Veteran and graduate of the Antioch University School of Law at Washington, D.C. and the State University of New York.
Director, Business Intelligence & Investigations
Sean Zapatka has served as Director, Business Intelligence & Investigations since January 2019 following his promotion to Senior Research Analyst in 2016. Sean joined Artus Group in 2013 as a research analyst and has become a specialist in pre-transactional due diligence investigations and public record research. He also has extensive and diverse experience in pre-employment background investigations, corporate investigations, litigation support and divorce/custody investigations. Sean represents Artus Group as a member of the Stamford Chamber of Commerce and the Life Solution Center of Darien, and is individually licensed as a private detective in the State of New York. Sean graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Elon University in May 2013, where he was elected president of his university’s Club Baseball team. Sean continues to play and manage baseball and most recently served as manager of the Meriden franchise of the Greater Hartford Twilight Baseball League for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
Director, Finance & Administration
Mindy Crouse-Artus has served as Artus Group's Finance Director since the company's inception in 2004. Prior to joining Artus Group, Mindy served as a Senior Investigative Research Coordinator for 16 years in Yale University's Department of Psychiatry, where her research focused on the treatment of alcohol and substance abuse and on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in abused children. Mindy earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Bloomsburg University and a Master's degree in Neuropsychology from the University of Colorado.
